Helmut Newton; the famous and seriously well know German photographer was born in Berlin in 1920. He was a prolific, widely imitated fashion photographer whose provocative, erotically charged black-and-white photos were a mainstay of Vogue and other media publications.
This famous image on the right was based on The Smokers Suit which the model is wearing.
Referencing back to my 'Blurred Lines' post, Newton has also used a naked woman in his shoot like Robin Thicke and Pharell had in their music video which caused a lot of controversy between peoples opinions.
Another thing that I can reference in this photograph is the sexuality of the models. Berlin in the 1920's made the gays, lesbians and bisexuals known and spoke out for themselves. I can see that Newton has been inspired by this in his styling and positioning of the two models.

Newton was a brave photographer in the sense of what he chose to capture. I think that although this image is way too revealing and portrays a bad message against himself, he has still managed to capture something beautiful and has made it some what acceptable. This image could easily be looked at as a porn referenced image because of his explicit view of this models body.
I think that these images above were also used as references for Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines music video as the girls on the right look similar with their mannequin like poses.
