Racism in the industry has lowered over the past years after campaigns fighting for equality. Michael Jackson for me is a true role model and inspiration as he says in one of his famous hits 'It don't matter if you're black or white'. This conceives a true message telling people to not feel different or any less equal just because of their race or skin colour. In a post earlier
The graph on the left shows the little diversity throughout the models at New York's Fashion Week in 2012. A massive 82.4% of the models alone were all white, leaving only 18.6% for the Black models, Asian models and Non-white Latinas. I think that this was a major eye opener for parts of the media to change this and re-create the industry into a more diverse world. Since this graph was created there has been more diversity seen on the Catwalks for certain collections, or if the designer has requested the models to be larger etc., but still not a large minority. Personally, I think that over the next few years we will begin to see drastic change as we already have these past years as equality is being revised into more.
