What is beauty?

I don't think that a single person should be judged and put into two categories being either 'beautiful' or 'ugly'. Everyone is beautiful in their own unique way, and everyone see's beauty in different perspectives.

HOT OR NOT?

The media are constantly posting false images of celebrities in magazines, on the internet and on TV giving young people a bad idea of what they should look like and constantly putting themselves down because they don't look like that. This is creating eating disorders and other problems with the worry that they're not seen as perfect because their bodies don't look like the images that are being drilled into their minds. The images above show me three women that have had to pay thousands of pounds to create their perfect body image by having boob jobs, bum implants, face lifts, Botox and more. Its sad to think how many girls aspire to be that. I don't find these women beautiful. I think that if a person has a welcoming, beautiful personality then they are beautiful in their own way. Not everyone may see this, but someone will.

Catwalk models are another reason why so many women and men of all ages are gaining eating disorders. The worry of what we look like is beginning to take over peoples lives, and this is because of the heavily edited images being published as 'real' women and the stick thin models that strut the catwalks; practically skin and bone. These models are known to take excessive amounts of drugs and eat barely anything to keep their figures so frail. This is from the pressure they are under from managers, fashion designers and the competition to be best by keeping their perfect body image to make the clothing lines and themselves look as good as possible. This is causing a lot of bad impacts to their lives and the publics lives as these women and men are seen to be role models for the younger generation; not ideal.

There are very few women who love their body, and even fewer teenagers which is worrying.

My ideal of 'What is Beauty'

A celebrity that I see as beautiful is Mila Kunis. She has worked so hard from the young age of only 9 years old when she first decided she wanted to be an actress. From then on she has dedicated her life to succeed and has made it. Below are two images of Mila, the left with her hair and make-up done and the right without. Many celebrities are shown with two images of them in magazines like the two below stating how different they look with make-up on, and how they are 'ugly' without it. A story that I have found online about Mila is different to these general stories and states only about how flawless her skin is even without make-up. I personally see this as being a naturally beautiful look as many images have to be heavily edited to make skin look flawless.
Mila can be seen as a role model to young people, unlike celebrities like Katie Price who are only famous for the stupid things they do to create headlines and cash.

Eyes

I think that the eyes are one of the most beautiful parts of any living body and are one of the first things that I notice when looking at someone. The eyes tell a lot about the mood that we are in, our emotions and are just generally a beautiful thing to look at.

Dove Beauty Sketch Campaign

I think that this advert Campaign by Dove was a touching clip to watch. It's meaningful and makes you feel good watching it. The only thing I noticed wrong with this ad campaign was the little diversity in the model choice. The people which took part in this ad were all around the same age and women. There was only one black male and female, and all the rest were white, fairly good looking women. There was definitely room for some more diverse individuals in there!
